One of the most common remedies, if not the most common remedy is to use a cold cucumber to help with eye bags. Cucumbers are not just for eating it can act as a cold compress which will help to reduce the puffiness experienced. Refrigerate the cucumber for a couple of hours, cut two slices of cucumber, placing one over each eye. Close your eyes and lie down for fifteen minutes. This will help to clear up the bags from under your eyes.
Try to avoid food that encourages the retention of fluid. These may include fried foods, salt, coffee, white flour and foods that generally contain monosodium glutamate. Foods that are filled with artificial preservatives and additives are not ideal, not only for your health but also for the bags under your eyes; likewise foods that have excess sodium. Limit your sodium intake not exceeding more that 1500 milligrams a day.
Keep hydrated by drinking lots of water each day. Stick with the motto “eight glasses a day keeps the bags away”. Fruits and vegetables that high in water content will help to purge the system of any impurities that often lead to the creation of bags under the eyes. Also eat foods that are high in iron. These may include broccoli, spinach and raisins.
Ensure that you get enough sleep. Exercise and eating healthy is good but you also need to incorporate enough sleep. Sleep is essential as it is at this time that our body gets to rest after doing all the various activities in the day. Seven to eight hours of sleep is sufficient try not to sleep for more than that as you will oversleep which may cause you to feel overly tired. If you are unable or have difficulty falling asleep you can get prescription medication that will help you to fall asleep. Getting enough rest plays an essential part in getting rid of eye bags.
